Todd V. Byhre – COO
“Carryout Buy’s his Store” read the 1987 headline in St. Louis Park paper announcing the purchase of “The Fresh Promise” grocery and deli by Todd (23) and his brother-in-law Dean (26). Unsure who would hire an economics and political science major, he decided to buy a business. Jennifer Rajala Sawyer – CSO
Jennifer Rajala Sawyer has a passion for small businesses in rural communities and she believes “Small Business is the economic engine of America.” Her entrepreneurial spirit is a reflection of her background as a fourth generation family member of Rajala Lumber and Timber Companies, located in northern Minnesota. Community and economic development coupled with volunteerism and philanthropy are motivating foundations in Jennifer’s life.
Brent Nystrom – Director of Business Development and Investor Relations
Brent saw the light early in 2014 and switched over from a career in higher education to various roles with Rebound Hospitality. He is responsible for investor relations, raising of capital, fund development and marketing projects, with an eye toward social media. In addition, he has a focus on Community, which is a core value to Rebound Hospitality. His goal is to ensure that we make a difference in each location where we manage properties. As a volunteer, he currently serves on his church’s Council as president-elect and is a board member with the Rice County chapter of Habitat for Humanity. Brent is a dedicated UK Wildcats and MN Timberwolves basketball fan, he plays Ultimate Frisbee at the highest levels.
Scott Koester – Director Project Development & Management
Scott is responsible for managing the various aspects of Rebounds development projects including site planning, design, entitlement, construction and building turnover. He collaborates with senior team members to deliver a project development that meets the firms market, design and financial objectives. With over 25 years in the design and construction industry, he understands the challenges that are part of the development process, and enjoys working with the development team to successfully deliver a finished project. Scott and his wife Tamara enjoy spending time with their two sons, Austin and Bjorn, watching them in a variety of sports, music and community activities. And when time allows, they like to travel to experience other communities and cultures. Scott has held board and executive positions with a variety of not for profit organizations, and continues to try to donate time and his experience to help those organization meet their charitable goals.
Korwin Kohrs, CPA – CFO
Kory has over thirty years of accounting, tax, finance, consulting, and project management experience including years spent leading project management and operation departments for divisions of York International and FMC Corp. Kory also served as CFO of a privately held manufacturing company. Responsibilities included operating process improvements, working capital management, metric development, ERP implementation, and directing strategic initiatives. For the last thirteen years Kory has run his own CPA and consulting firm. Kory is a 1991 graduate of the University of St, Thomas MBA program and received a BS Degree in Business administration and Accounting from the University of Minnesota in 1981. He became a CPA in 1983. Kory has been active on non-profit boards and resides in St. Paul, MN.
Chuck Halvorson – Controller
Chuck finds Rebound Hospitality’s mission inspiring, “preserving and enhancing unique properties that serve and connect communities”. His role at Rebound includes the accounting function, financial reporting, managing working capital, assuring strong internal controls, and serving as a liaison/resource to the accounting staffs at the properties. Chuck has a diverse range of experience split between financial and operations. He’s served as controller or CFO at several companies and was also operations manager at a manufacturing plant for 12 years. Chuck is married with three children. He has passion for travel, which has led to many road trips as well as multiple adventures overseas. Chuck enjoys a life-long enthusiasm for physical activities including cycling, running, and Nordic Skiing. He has BS Degree in Accounting from the University of Minnesota.
Karen Keeler – Human Resource Director
Karen provides human resource expertise to the Rebound Hospitality management team in the areas of Recruitment and Hiring, Employee Relations, Performance Management, Leadership Training and Development and Compensation and Benefits. Karen was employed by the IBM Corporation for over 20 years, where she held several Operations and Human Resource staff and management positions prior to starting her own human resource consulting practice.
Margaret Jacobson – Executive Assistant
Margaret has been working for Rebound for 7 ½ years. She supports the Managing Principal Brett Reese and other members of the Rebound Enterprises and Rebound Hospitality Teams. Her working background has been at St. Olaf College for 25 years in positions as Executive Assistant to the President and Liaison to the Board of Regents, College and Public Relations, Admissions and the Registrar’s office. She also served as Executive Assistant to the District Manager of Equitable Life Insurance Company for 3 years. A native of Northfield, MN. She is married to Marv Jacobson and has 4 grown children and 9 grandchildren. Spending time with their children and grandchildren is a highlight for the Jacobson’s. Margaret and Marv have traveled to Denmark and Norway several times in the past 15 years to spend time with their daughter. One of her favorite things to do is videotaping weddings and special events, and edits them in to movies. Her children call her a “geek” when it comes to technology. She is active at Rejoice church and Marketplace Ministry and her faith is very important in her.
