Rebound Hospitality hosted an open house in the newly remodeled conference room at the Archer House River Inn this past Monday evening. We were joined by downtown neighbors to share plans for the proposed Fairfield Inn and Suites on the Crossing site at Hyw. 3 and 2nd Street in Northfield, MN. We were pleased to have a wide variety of guests including representatives from both colleges, Crossing condominium residents, area businesses owners and community leaders. We greatly appreciated the questions, challenges, ideas and support.
We believe the project will spur future development along Highway 3 and greater commercial activity throughout Northfield. The proposed 80 room hotel will allow many currently displaced visitors to stay in Northfield rather than the Twin Cities and allow Northfield to attract more conferences and events at the colleges and other venues throughout the city. As a proposed Marriott Fairfield Inn and Suites, the new property would significantly increase the City of Northfield as a tourism destination given the power of Marriott – soon to be the world’s largest hotel company. Further the additional rooms will be walking distance to the downtown core, Carleton College and the Grand Event Center thus adding activity without adding to downtown parking congestion.
